coffee bean packaging project
thomas mcintyre is starting a local outreach project that sells small batch roasted coffee beans in the kansas city area with 100% of the profit going to local charities and organizations. he would love for the coffee bags to have a kansas city touch and thinks it would be great if the students at the art institute produced a few designs for the bags.

The Design*Sponge Scholarship is intended to assist art and design students in the pursuit of their creative endeavors through financial support. Because D*S understands that a students needs don’t always fit into the categories of tuition and housing, this will remain a no-strings-attached award. These funds may be spent in any way the winners feel best suits their creative needs. Whether that’s paying for an un-paid internship abroad, expensive supplies to test a new medium or financing a dream project- we’re here to help. The 2011 Scholarship is now open and accepting applications.
2011 Scholarship Details:
Undergraduate Student Awards: 1st Place ($2,500), 2nd Place ($1,500), 3rd Place ($750), and 4th Place ($250)

Sporting Innovations, is seeking a graphic design intern to assist with brand and business development. Most responsibilities will entail working with the existing brand guidelines to create business collateral that presents the vision and mission of Sporting Innovations to a professional audience. This is a first-hand opportunity to experience the leading edge in sports technology and fan experience; with the possibility of work being presented to top sports executives around the world.
Qualifications
— work well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
— most work will consist of digital presentations and information graphics
— attentive to detail and quality craft
— design knowledge of print and digital space; typography, layout
— formal knowledge of design software and best practices
— must have own laptop/macbook with proper tools/software
Bonus Points
— Web design (html, css)
— Motion experience (Flash, Flash Catalyst, After Effects)
The internship is open to recent-graduates or Junior/Senior-level students pursuing a degree in graphic design or equivalent; expected to work 2–3 day/week with hours being flexible according to class schedules. Although the position is unpaid it is available for class credit.
