the community capital fund of kansas city is a nonprofit economic development organization committed to creating opportunities in kansas city, missouri’s most distressed communities. they are looking for a part-time, paid summer intern to work out of their office at 19th and vine in the historic jazz district. 

some of the many projects they have in store for their intern are as follows: 
  • co-design materials such as brochures, newsletters, flyers, posters, booklets, presentation decks, infographics, maps, e-mails, letterhead, annual reports, white papers, etc.;

User Experience Developer Internships at Garmin

Position Summary:
Learn to apply fundamental usability and user centered design principles to objectify and guide the design process, while also increasing development proficiency in a variety of common web technologies.  This position will work closely with designers, developers, copywriters and business stakeholders to define the best user experience.  The UX team is part of the company's Marketing Communications department and works in a creative environment, much like an in-house advertising agency.

Essential Functions
-Learn to produce UX deliverables such as wireframes, user flows, site maps and interactive prototypes
-Learn to apply user feedback to guide and enhance UX design concepts
-Learn to develop scalable, reusable, innovative front-end solutions for Garmin’s suite of Internet applications
-Learn to collaborate with project team members and business stakeholders, while supporting multiple simultaneous projects

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
-Completed coursework in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors, or a degree with an equivalent curriculum.
-Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
-Online portfolio demonstrating a strong visual design, interaction design and front-end development proficiency
-Demonstrated proficiency designing in both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
-Demonstrated experience developing within HTML5 and CSS3 specifications
-Proficient developing semantic markup and front-end code that is cross-browser compatible
-Demonstrated experience simultaneously supporting multiple projects of varying complexity
-Must possess good organization, creative and analytical skills
-Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and demonstrate the ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment
-Must be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Desirable Qualifications:
-Proficient using Axure or other common rapid prototyping tools
-Experience developing JavaScript, both with and without frameworks
-Experience with dynamic, template-driven or MVC applications (PHP, JavaScript, etc.)
-Experience developing web services and manipulating data in JSON and XML format
-Familiarity with Expression Engine or similar content management systems

Paid Internship at Adknowledge/AdBistro






AdBistro is a business channel within Adknowledge which drives users to articles and videos through our content recommendation technology. This cost-effective solution allows advertisers to obtain additional visitors and page views, while our publisher solutions include display, video and search.

The design internship will offer opportunities to assist with the creative development of AdBistro marketing materials and products based off of the design needs of the channel. They are looking for a motivated, well-grounded Graphic Design/Web Design Intern to help build the look and feel of their products and refine the AdBistro brand. Primary duties may include:

-Collaboration: Brainstorming and idea generation with consideration of functional requirements, customer feedback and existing competing products.
-Design: Graphic design of print and digital materials including ads, presentations, landing pages and more, using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and/or others. Also maintaining the AdBistro site via WordPress.

Additional duties may include:
-Development (for those that are web development-oriented): Utilize HTML, CSS and/or Javascript to develop landing pages, sites and widgets. Act as an advocate for user experience and best practices, and monitor performance across multiple site designs.

CANDIDATE OVERVIEW
The successful candidate will be an inspiring and confident leader with at least:
-Basic knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign
-Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Design or related area, or relevant experience

SPIN! Summer Internship

























SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza is looking for a part-time (25-30 hrs/wk) to work with their Marketing Department. The internship will run from May 15 through August 15 and is a paid position.

The team needs help with daily tasks such as printing, cutting and folding print jobs, making design edits, attendance at special events, file organization, research, running errands and possibly helping the administrative team with special projects. 

Skills:

Every year, the Nelson-Atkins invites current KCAI sophomores and juniors to apply for the Durwood internship program. There are 31 internships available in 10 departments, available for the summer, fall or spring semesters. Students may apply for as many positions as they want, but must fill out an application for each one.

Applications are due March 21st. The application process includes both an online form, and a form which must be printed out, signed by a faculty and turned into the AACS office by March 21st.

Great Plains SPCA is seeking a creative and qualified intern to assist in the design, development and production of creative projects. This intern will gain hands-on experience, expand their portfolio and professional network, all while working in a fast-paced and friendly environment to help needy animals! Working directly with the Chief of Communication, Manager of Creative Communications and Social Marketing Coordinator, this intern will design pieces to increase awareness and raise support for the organization. 

Qualifications:
-a Junior or Senior 
-well versed in Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop (HTML experience a plus)
-familiar with the procedures and processes to take design for print and web from concept to completion
-able to work within a strict style guide and have a full understanding of brand standards
