cody langford, kcai GD alum and wearer of short, clown-like neckties, is teaching a lettepress class. should be quite cool, as he will actually have a nice range of workable type and equipment. here's the info:
February 21 & 28 8AM - 1PM
$165 for KCCIPA members ($180 for Non-members)
6 Participants
This workshop will explore the lure of letterpress printing from its history to the planning and production of hands-on projects. We'll cover all the basics of the letterpress process--type setting, lock-up, platen press make-ready, press operation, clean up, hand mixing ink, the use of linoleum blocks and photopolymer plates. You will print a small run (25 impressions) of your own typography as well as a copy to exchange with each of the other class participants.
Time outside of class may be needed by students wanting to print linoleum or photopolymer. Introduction to these 2 mediums will be discussed but design and/or creating the lino or photopolymer plate is up to each participant. Additional cost for materials is the sole responsibility of the student.
Bring a lunch or something to snack on in case you get hungry.
