Study Art and Design at London College of Communication

May 15th -June 2nd, 2009

Eastern Michigan University's Art Department in cooperation with the EMU Office of Academic Programs Abroad, is pleased to offer a three-week study program at London College of Communication in London, England. The intent of the program is to give students from EMU and other institutions an opportunity to learn more about British and European graphic design and typographic practices

This three-credit hour course, entitled Type and Image, will be taught by current London College of Communication (http://www.lcc.arts.ac.uk) faculty in conjunction with EMU faculty. Course work will include a letterpress component and an image-making component. The course will also include museum and studio visits and a possible lecture program.

Projects will be based around students gaining an understanding of the historical, technological and contemporary context of graphic design in Britain. Issues of contemporary art and design practice will be addressed through class projects.


Early applications are due Feb. 16, 2009. Final application deadline is March 15, 2009.

Program fee Approximately $3,280

Costs include Accommodation at University dorms, Travel Card, International student ID card, insurance. Costs do not include Airfare, EMU tuition, transportation between airport and LCC, meals, personal expenses, entrance charges into museums, optional side trips. Students from other institutions must apply for financial aid or course credit through their home institutions.
